Reduce Running Stress
The unique experience of running at a weight lighter than you are allows you to reduce the stress of running on your joints by up to 80%.
Increase Mileage
If you are running more than 25 miles a week, and you are on a plan to increase your mileage, you might want to think about increasing doing so on the Alter G. This way, you can gain base miles with a reduced risk of injury.
Continue Mileage When Injured
One of the most frustrating aspects of athletics is maintaining fitness while injured. The Alter G allows you to maintain your aerobic base while injured because you can actually find a combination of weight, speed and slope that allows you to train pain free.
Perform Speed Workouts 1-2mph Faster Than You Usually Run
The Alter G allows you to reduce your weight and secures you while you push your speed development. Our Woodway Treadmill in the Alter G is a top of the line tool that runs up to 18 mph, and also allows you to train backwards up to 10 mph as well. The world speed record for the mile was set on the Alter G.
Run Barefoot
Barefoot running is a great way to improve your form, get off your heel and up onto your toes. Our Woodway treadmill is perfectly suited to barefoot running. Avoid glass and slivers and run barefoot safely!

The situation is that this runner was preparing for a half marathon when her ITB began to hurt at mile 5 every run. Once the pain became unbearable earlier and earlier in her training, she quit running and sought my help. After a week of PT she was still unable to run without pain although the pain came on later on in her run. But on the Alter G, she could train pain free maintaining her fitness while she managed her irritated ITB. Her PT now involves our routine PT intervention, modalities, manual therapy, ice and stretches AND a training session on the Alter G.
