Sports Physical Therapy

What is Sports Therapy?

A true sports therapist prepares, develops and rehabilitates athletes and functions as an integral part of their training or rehab in their return to their sport. A true sports therapy clinic actively works with competitive athletes, understands the demands of performance athletes, and has a deep integrated association with athletes, teams and athletic organizations in the local sports community.

Why Sports Reaction Center?

We share your objectives... The Physician/Therapist relationship should be seamless when providing care to the performance athlete. When you treat active individuals, we want you and your patient to have the confidence that a true sports therapy expert is involved in their care.

Our Approach: We first assess Foundational Movement Patterns evaluating restriction vs. excessive mobility joint by joint and segment by segment. Movement dysfunction is often a set-up for long-term injury. In order to overcome the dysfunction we find, the patient may need to engage in either/both flexibility or stability exercises because in the end, there is an inherent tension in the body between mobility and stability.

What About Acute Pain?

In dealing with acute injuries of any sort, we take a PAIN FREE approach to rehabilitation. We work to get people out of trouble with Phase 1 treatment strategies including manual therapy, modalities and gentle exercises to nourish, feed, and hydrate the tissue, restore ROM, and generally lower the pain levels. Next we move into Phase 2 — where our objective is to make each person strong and elastic. These exercises are generally strength/endurance oriented with a view to improving the tolerance of the dense connective tissue toward loading. Finally, we focus on Phase 3 — Making the person effectively "bullet proof" for their sport. Here the focus is on high intensity and more explosive exercises designed to prepare the tissue for the mechanics of athletic participation. Consider us your partner in the rehabilitation of your active and athletic patients.

Top athletes like elite runner Mike Sayenko, a 2:14 marathon runner and Kevin Swyrin, who is now playing professional rugby in France, to multiple serious athletes including finishers in the Kona Ironman race, describe their sports therapy experience at Sports Reaction Center as "unique and effective."

The injured athlete needs peace of mind that they are in the best of hands and that all of their providers are on the same page. Injury resolution for the athletes begins with you and is concluded with us with the athlete returning to competition. THIS is where the magic happens!
