Pool Therapy
What is Pool Therapy?
Pool therapy has been shown to provide relief of symptoms for a variety of arthritic problems, traumatic injuries, and other musculoskeletal conditions.
This procedure uses the therapeutic properties of water, heat, buoyancy and resistance, to give a great environment in which to exercise effectively and with a minimum of discomfort. Standard treatment duration is 30 minutes, twice a week and takes place in the Therapy Pool at Bellevue Aquatic Center. Treatments take place in a pool heated to 96 degrees and the therapist accompanies the patient into the pool for the exercise regime and other treatment as indicated.

Hilary Croft, PT Brings Pool Therapy to SRCPT
I attended the Middlesex Hospital School of Physiotherapy in London from 1981 – 1984 and then worked in the UK, for 15 years predominantly in the field of Orthopedics.
For most of my career in the UK, I worked at Lord Mayor Treloar Hospital, an orthopedic specialist center, where I was lucky to work with some of the leading surgeons in the South of England. I worked with inpatients and then later out patients and so was able to follow patients from injury, through surgery and to final rehabilitation. During this time I found I loved to work with motivated athletes and young people, but also to help people of all ages get the best out of their bodies.
During my 15 years working in Physical Therapy in the UK, I developed a special interest in Pool Therapy, and was recently delighted to discover that I could continue this passion in Bellevue.
Having undergone initial training in college and then further advanced training at King Edward VII Hospital I was able to improve my knowledge and to offer traditional pool therapy and Bad Ragaz techniques. This enables patients to benefit quickly from the effects of pool therapy if they have arthritic conditions, after surgery, after injuries and to correct musculo-skeletal problems of many types.
After working through the requirements for credentialing in the State of Washington I received my Physical Therapy License at the end of April and have been working at Sports Reaction Center since May, 2009.
