What is Sports Physical Therapy?

Physical therapy is a licensed profession which provides guidance, support, and education to promote the highest potential of functioning for individuals. In sports physical therapy, a physical evaluation is performed to determine the dysfunction, followed by custom prescribed techniques that include massage, stretching, manipulation, mobilization, and neuromuscular reeducation. Functional exercises are used to maximize physical performance. Sports requirements are taken into consideration for return to competition. We aim to make our rehabilitated patients more durable as they return to sport participation.

What Makes us Different:

Since 1982, founder Neil Chasan has refined his approach to physical therapy so the Sports Reaction Center application of physical therapy strategies includes the tools, techniques and strategies he has found to work best. He is a trained Manual Therapist, and an expert in function and functional rehabilitation strategies. He also has the benefit of being a US Soccer licensed coach, an internationally recognized educator with clinical faculty status at the University of Washington (since 1996) where he teaches annually, and a published author in the medical literature having published in text books, journals, and the print and digital press. He is also the author of a popular book on fitness for golfers, and he produced a DVD of golf fitness exercises.

Our approach takes into consideration the present state of healing and the goals of the individual. From this we build individualized functional rehabilitation programs using the best strategies that we can to maximize and optimize the functional outcome for each person. Manual therapies, including joint mobilization and massage are used to enhance the recovery process every visit.

We are a team of professionals who work well together and keep the process fun. At Sports Reaction Center, our patients work up a sweat and smile while doing so.
