Scientific research, medical studies and the best information available today on weight loss all agree on the following points:
- Most people fail at weight loss programs long term
- Between diet and exercise, exercise is a more important part of a successful weight loss program.
- When a person participates in a supervised program, they do better.
- When people drop out of a long term supervised program, they relapse.
Our programs are designed to address the four key aspects of successful long-term weight loss, which are:
1. Individualized exercise programs
2. Individualized nutrition planning
3. Training and education that leads to greater awareness, responsibility and behavior modification
4. Managing medical care with your physician
We will develop and manage your weight loss program in the following ways:
1. Individual exercise programs are supervised in our clinic under the direction of a physical therapist and personal trainer. You'll advance through your program at the pace that's best for you. We offer three types of exercise: 1. Cardio programs that are developed from data about you that we collect and analyze, 2. Progressive weight training exercises based on your abilities, and 3. High intensity short bout exercise that will raise your metabolism and make it more efficient.
2. The nutrition planning aspect of our program combines the best information available on nutrition for weight loss with metabolic testing that tells us exactly the number of calories you need to lose weight in a healthy fashion. Our nutritionist and dietician will help you build your individual meal plans. Between diet and exercise, we shoot for a 500 Kcal differential (more going out than coming in) to secure a 1pound per week improvement in body composition.
3. Behavior modification is all about gaining knowledge and an understanding that will allow you to be more responsible about taking control of your eating behavior. Throughout the term of our program, you will be educated about many different aspects of diet and exercise. Our experience tells us that you'll make better decisions about your food intake and exercise choices when you see yourself making progress in your program.
4. Medical management in our program is fully handled by your own attending physician. We maintain a high level of communication with your doctor about your progress in our program, and we'll encourage dialogue between you and your doctor about the medical related aspects of your program.. Program participation does require a doctor's prescription.
